Memorial Service for Werner Davis
The memorial service for our dear friend Werner Davis will be held at the Tahoma National Cemetery located at 18600 SE 24th St., Kent WA 98042 on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 11 AM. There will be a reception following the service to share memories with family and friends. The reception will be held in the Garden Room at Weeks' Dryer Mortuary, 220 134th St. S., Tacoma, WA 98444.

Club President Lavelle "Doug" Douglas Passes On
Tee & Turf Club President and friend Lavelle Douglas passes on from cancer. Lavelle was a long time supporter and cornerstone of the golf club and related associations and he will be dearly missed by all. Our warmest condolences and heartfelt prayers go out to the Douglas family.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Tacoma on Friday, August 5th at 11 AM.

11th Annual Donald B. Murphy Memorial Golf Tournament Benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of South Puget Sound
The 11th Annual Donald B. Murphy (DBM) Memorial Golf Tournament supporting the Boys and Girls Club of South Puget Sound will be held at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, WA on August 15, 2011. The foursome tournament has a 10:30 AM shotgun starting time. The tournament format will be provided upon check-in on the day of the event. There will be contests on the course, raffles with great prizes and a wonderful dinner and program.
All fees include: lunch, goody bag, golf shirt and dinner.
Donation Fees are $1000.00 per foursome team or $250.00 per golfer.
Proceeds from the DBM Memorial Golf Tournament go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound’s Endowment Fund.

2011 NWGA Washington Event is Scheduled for July 8-10 at Riverbend Golf Complex

2011 NWGA Portland August Event Is Scheduled for August 13th-15th The registration and information form for the 2011 NWGA Portland August Event is available for download. The event is scheduled to take place on August 13-15, 2011 at Camas Meadows GC (August 14th at 9AM) and Tri-Mountain GC (August 15th at 8AM). The event is will be hosted by Leisure Hour GC. The entry fee is $200 per player which includes 2 rounds of golf with cart, fish fry/reception, award ceremony luncheon, and prizes. 2011 Newaukum Challenge Information
The 2011 Newaukum Challenge is on the schedule for May 7th at the Newaukum Valley Golf Course(MAP). This is a multi-club sponsored event. The entry fee is $50.00 which includes green fees and prize fund but does NOT include a cart. If you require a cart, please contact the course directly at 360-748-0461 for reservations. Tee & Turf GC Memorial Tournament Scheduled at Madrona Links GC on May 22nd
The 2010 Tee & Turf GC Memorial Tournament is scheduled for 10 AM on May 22nd at Madrona Links Golf Course in Gig Harbor. The format will be an 18 hole medal (stroke) play tournament. Contact your Tournament Chair, James Vick by Wednesday, May 19, if you intend on playing in the event or would like additional information at
Please arrive early. You will pay your green and/or cart fees directly to the proshop. A mandatory prize fund fee of $10.00 per player is required for all member participants plus $1.00 for Player of the Year fund which will be collected by a representative prior to play. Pay outs for gross and net scores and flights will be based on number of players in the field. This is a major club tournament and bonus Player of the Year points will be awarded for participation and placing.
We hope to see a strong turn out for this event since we only had 3 groups for the Spring Tournament. As always, guests are encouraged to be invited and to participate in all our events.

2nd Annual John H. Moore Memorial Scramble on May 16, 2010 at Meadow Park GC
The 2nd Annual John H. Moore Memorial Scramble will take place at Meadow Park Golf Course in Tacoma, WA on May 16, 2010 at 1 PM (modified shotgun start based on the field). This is a 4 Player Team Event with an entry fee of $85.00 per player. This fee includes golf with shared cart, tee prizes, men's and ladies' long drive and KP holes, and a meal. All proceeds to benefit the Jonathan Moore College Fund and John H. Moore Jr. Golf. This event is open to all golfers. The deadline to register for this event is May 1. Feedback on a Proposed New Event for 2010 NWGA Shoot-Out in Umatilla Requested
NWGA is proposing a new optional event to take place on Sunday afternoon at 3 PM during the 2010 Shoot-out in Umatilla. The optional event would be a stroke play (gross score) 9-Hole GIANT SKINS game. The fees for the proposed event would be $15 per player ($20 if you share a cart) which includes green fees and prize fund. The Big River GC Men's Club would also be interested in participating in the proposed event which would make the prize pool very attractive. At this time, we are trying to get feedback from NWGA members to determine how many people would be willing to participate. 2010 Season Opens With 2-Person Scramble at Brookdale Golf Course on March 6th
Greetings to all Tee & Turfers! Dust off those sticks, clean your balls, stretch out that old body, and start popping those pain killers because the beginning of the 2010 golf season is fast approaching. The 2010 season will kickoff with a 2-Person Scramble on March 6th at the Brookdale Golf Course with tee times starting at 10 AM. Please arrive early so we can make sure pairings are finalized and any general club announcements can be relayed. Please contact James Vick at 253-460-1872(H) / 253-831-5442(C) or by email at vickjh625@comcast.net by Thursay, March 4th if you plan on playing in this event. Fees will be $10 for the prize fund + green fees (and optional cart fee if you are riding). You will pay your green/cart fees directly to the golf course. A club representative will collect the $10 prize fund fee prior to tee off.
The pairing will be by handicap, picking the lowest handicap golfer and pairing that golfer with the highest handicap golfer. The process will continue until all the pairing are complete. The prize fund pay outs will be 50% for first place, 30% for second place, and 20% percent for third place. Pay outs will be awarded at the Tee & Turf Awards Banquet at the end of the playing season.
We hope to see everyone on Opening Day! As always, we encourage you to invite guests to all our events.

The Washington State Golf Association’s inactive score posting period, November 16th through the last day of February, is quickly coming to a close. As of next Monday, March 1st you may begin to post scores for handicap purposes.
If you have posted any scores during the inactive season from rounds played in Washington State or Northern Idaho, please contact your Handicap Chair, Jim Henderson at 253-468-1090 or henderson98466@gmail.com and the scores removed from your record at GHIN.
